1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
My older brothers loved playing tricks on me growing up, and one of their favorites was to tell me that gorillas were farm animals. Of course, this would seem like completely harmless fun until you are asked what your favorite farm animal is, while on stage at one of your first pageants. Little four-year-old me enthusiastically said – Gorillas!
2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Music beautifully gives a microphone to unity. Had I been blessed with musicality, it would be used to unify, inspire, motivate and celebrate girls and women all over the world. Since this gift has eluded me, I will find other ways - so no one has to hear me sing. I can openly admit that isn’t the way I am meant to be a Pretty Powerful Ambassador for UN Women.
3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
The extended family I have found in my Varsity Dance Team is the strongest reinforcement of female empowerment I could ever imagine. They make every day brighter and filled with more laughter and every challenge easier to manage through their love and support. I am so grateful for this group of young women cheering me on through every element of life and that I get to champion them as well.
4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
It was in my most valued Halloween costume that I first experienced the power of the Sisterhood in Pageantry! It was a green witch costume very much like the one found in the musical Wicked. There was nothing wicked about the love and light that all of my Sister Queens brought to children at that Trick-or-Treat event!
5.What do you feel is the hardest job in the world and why?
Pump it up by Endor. The way my dance coaches used the art of dance and the power of a song to give us an outlet with this song, changed my life. Anytime I need to refresh, refocus or bring my energy up, I’ve got it. It is also something I have been able to share with younger girls that experience anxiety when it comes to performing!
